Stay Tuned: “Leftover Salmon – A Rocky Mountain High” 1996

I was the Director of Photography for this episode of “Stay Tuned” a 1996 Rockumentary series hosted by Peter Coyote and Produced and Directed by John Kuri. This episode was filmed at my favorite San Francisco music venue, the fabled Fillmore Auditorium. I also shot the blue screen segments with Peter Coyote at Golden Gate Picture’s sound stage in Corte Madera. The concert footage and interviews were shot on a Canon XL-1 Mini-DV camera, cutting edge at the time. The blue screen segments were shot on Betacam SP.

Leftover Salmon performs “Danger Man” featuring Vince Hermann on vocal, Drew Emmitt – mandolin and lead guitar, Bill McKay – piano and keyboards, Greg Garrison – bass, Jose Martinez- drums, and Mark Vann with another brilliant banjo solo.

Leftover Salmon is a jam band from Boulder, Colorado, formed in 1989. Their unique blend of bluegrass, rock, country, and Cajun/Zydeco, which the band calls “Polyethnic Cajun Slamgrass”, has found favor with the jam band scene.  Recorded at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco..

Video produced by Kuri Productions in association with Monterrey Light & Sound for StayTuned TV.  Directed and Edited by John Kuri.  Produced by Patrick Ireland and John Kuri.
