I was the Director of Photography for this episode of “Stay Tuned” a 1996 Rockumentary series hosted by Peter Coyote and Produced and Directed by John Kuri. This episode was filmed at Trax nightclub in Charlottesville, Virginia. I also shot the blue screen segments with Peter Coyote at Golden Gate Picture’s sound stage in Corte Madera, CA. The concert footage and interviews were shot on a Canon XL-1 Mini-DV camera, cutting edge at the time.The blue screen segments were shot on Betacam SP.
Introduced by Peter Coyote, the Squirrel Nut Zippers in concert at Trax nightclub, Charlottesville, Virginia. Included are interviews with Jimbo Mathus, the swing revival band’s co-founder and vocalist / co-founder Katharine Whalen. Band members Chris Phillips (drums), Stuart Cole (bass), Robert “Griffanzo” Griffin – (piano, keyboards), Je Widenhouse (trumpet), David Wright (trombone), Tim Smith (tenor and alto saxophones).
